Segera Rhino Sanctuary Fundraiser

Santa Fe, New Mexico - September 13, 2024

We are excited to share the remarkable success of our US Segera Rhino Campaign fundraiser, held on September 13th at Sibylle Szaggars Redford Fine Art in Santa Fe. Hosted by visionary co-hosts Robert and Sibylle Redford, along with Jochen Zeitz and Kate Garwood Zeitz, the event aimed to raise vital awareness and support for the Segera Rhino Sanctuary Project of The Zeitz Foundation, which seeks to create one of the largest rhino sanctuaries in the world.

Nine world-renowned artists—Murray Grant, Harland Miller, Nick Brandt, David Crookes & Nicola Jackson, Cristina Mittermeier, Paul Nicklen, Michael Poliza, and David Yarrow—generously donated their beautiful works and exhibited some of their finest pieces at the fundraiser. All proceeds from the artwork purchased benefited the Segera Rhino Sanctuary Campaign.

Juneteenth Celebration & Panel Talk

RDF Consulting hosted a vibrant Juneteenth Celebration, bringing people together to honor the profound impact of Black artists and their pivotal role in activism and social change. The day featured an engaging panel talk with Joy Simmons, Essence Harden, and Autumn Breon, who shared their insights and experiences, enriching the conversation around the importance of art in driving social change. It was a truly special day that transcended advocacy, filled with laughter, joy, community, and inspiration. Each attendee contributed to the spirit of the celebration, leaving a lasting impression and reminding everyone of the power of unity and creativity.

Aspen Artist Talk

Home of Barbara & Jon Lee, Colorado - July 31, 2024

Featuring artists Jesse Krimes and Gary Tyler, this artist talk sought to raise awareness about the challenges faced by justice-impacted artists and the vital role of art in fostering dialogue and driving social change. The event showcased the important work of the Center for Art & Advocacy, emphasizing the essential resources and visibility it provides through funded fellowships, mentorship programs, training opportunities, and platforms for presentation and discussion.

Jesse Krimes, founder and director of the Center, and Gary Tyler, a 2024 Right of Return Fellow and Frieze Impact Prize winner, shared their personal artistic journeys and highlighted the crucial importance of art in advocating for social justice. Through their stories, they illuminated the transformative power of creativity in addressing societal issues and inspiring change.

CTAOP Block Party Annual Fundraiser

Universal Studios Back Lot, Los Angeles - July 13, 2024

Charlize Theron hosted her fourth annual Block Party benefit for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP) at the Universal Backlot, celebrating the upcoming release of “Twisters.” The event featured star-studded attendees, including Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, along with performances by Lainey Wilson and Tanner Adell. Theron also engaged in a meaningful conversation with South African activists Neo Mohajane and Miché Williams.

This year’s Block Party successfully raised support and awareness for CTAOP's mission, which is dedicated to investing in the health and safety of young people in South Africa to foster a more equitable future.
